Network Topology

How an Intercede Site Is Put Together.

Cabinet endpoints are individually addressed on a managed site network. A dedicated router/firewall connects that network to the internet. A Site Gateway is added as a local service when the deployment requires local data, printing, or outage resiliency.

Model 1: Approved Cloud-Direct Deployment

A cloud-direct deployment may be selected for a site that does not require Site Gateway printer services, configured local retention, or extended local-outage functions.

Core

Core cabinet endpoints

Essential machine accounting and cloud visibility.

Edge

Edge cabinet endpoints

Local intelligence, managed diagnostics, and resilient monitoring.

Guardian

Guardian cabinet endpoints

Advanced monitoring, Class 3 / SAS integration, and validated cabinet control.

Site network

Managed site network

Managed switching and wireless access points provide connectivity and coverage for each addressed cabinet endpoint.

Router

Dedicated router / firewall

Internet routing, DHCP, network segmentation, firewall and VPN functions, WAN management, and optional LTE failover.

Internet connection to the Intercede cloud platform
Cloud

Intercede cloud platform

Receives machine data from the site and holds the operational history.

Portal

Operator portal

Multi-location reporting, alerts, ticket activity, and role-based access.

Flow: Core, Edge, and/or Guardian cabinet endpoints → managed site network → dedicated router/firewall → Intercede cloud platform → operator portal.

Model 2: Resilient Site Deployment

A Site Gateway is added as a peer on the managed site network when the deployment requires local data services, configured retention, printer services, or continued local operation during an internet outage.

Core

Core cabinet endpoints

Essential machine accounting and cloud visibility.

Edge

Edge cabinet endpoints

Local intelligence, managed diagnostics, and resilient monitoring.

Guardian

Guardian cabinet endpoints

Advanced monitoring, Class 3 / SAS integration, and validated cabinet control.

Site network

Managed site network

Managed switching and wireless coverage. Cabinet endpoints, the Site Gateway, and printers all attach here as peers.

Router

Dedicated router / firewall

Internet routing, DHCP, segmentation, firewall and VPN functions, and optional LTE failover.

Local service

Site Gateway

Attached to the same managed network as a local service, not between the network and the cloud. Hosts the local Intercede database, configured retention, and synchronization.

Printing

Compatible printers

Compatible USB, Ethernet, or validated serial printers connected to the Site Gateway, or approved network print modules on the site network.

Cloud

Intercede cloud platform

Receives site data and synchronizes stored data when connectivity returns.

Portal

Operator portal

Multi-location reporting, alerts, ticket activity, and role-based access.

Responsibilities: The managed router/firewall handles internet routing, DHCP, network security, VPN functions, and optional LTE failover. The Site Gateway handles Intercede local data, retention, synchronization, and printer services.

During an internet outage

In a resilient deployment, the Site Gateway continues the local services configured for that site and stores transaction and event data locally. When internet service returns, applicable stored data is synchronized to the Intercede cloud platform.

Printing paths

Local ticket workflows print through a compatible printer on the site network or attached to the Site Gateway. Reports opened in the Intercede cloud portal print through the user’s normal computer and printer.

Intercede validates each machine family before defining the final scope.

INTERCEDEMONITOR. PROTECT. PROFIT.
