Site Infrastructure

Local Data, Printer Services, and Outage Resiliency.

A Site Gateway is selected when the deployment requires local data services, configured local retention, printer services, or outage resiliency. Hardware and configuration are determined during the compatibility and site review.

Best fit

Sites that need configured local retention, local printer services, a local dashboard, or defined operation during an internet outage.

The Site Gateway receives data from cabinet endpoints over the site network. It is not a cabinet product tier.

The Site Gateway is a local service appliance on the managed site network. It is not the site router and does not perform wireless routing.

What the Site Gateway does

  • Receive machine data from cabinet endpoints over the site network
  • Host the local Intercede database
  • Store transaction and event data locally
  • Customize retention and historical data to each operator's standards
  • Continue defined local services during an internet outage
  • Synchronize applicable stored data when internet service returns
  • Support local and network thermal-printer workflows
  • Support USB, serial, Ethernet, and Wi-Fi printer connections across most printer models
  • Provide print-server functions for approved network-connected printer modules
  • Provide a local dashboard where configured
  • Support remote monitoring and maintenance

The Site Gateway is not the site router

Internet connectivity and network security are handled by a separate managed router/firewall. Keeping the two roles distinct is what allows the site network to be designed properly.

Functions the Site Gateway Does Not Perform

  • It does not route internet traffic or manage the WAN connection
  • It does not serve DHCP for the site network
  • It does not act as the primary firewall
  • It does not terminate VPN connections
  • It does not perform general network management
  • It does not provide LTE failover
  • It is not the only path between cabinets and the cloud

Managed Router/Firewall Responsibilities

  • Internet routing
  • DHCP
  • Network segmentation
  • Firewall functions
  • VPN functions
  • WAN management
  • Optional LTE failover

Managed switches and wireless access points provide site connectivity and coverage.

Intercede validates each machine family before defining the final scope.

Printing

Local machine and ticket printing is separate from normal cloud report printing.

Local printing

A supported machine or cabinet may send a local print job to a validated USB, serial, or Ethernet printer connected to the Site Gateway, or through an approved network print module connected to a remote thermal printer.

Printer requirements are determined by the machine interface, printer model, connection type, ticket workflow, and desired outage behavior.

Existing printers are evaluated by model and interface before reuse is approved.

Cloud portal printing

Reports opened in the Intercede cloud portal print through the user’s normal computer and printer.

A report printed from the portal is not sent back to the Site Gateway or to a thermal printer at the game room.

For supported ticket-out workflows, operators can view and manage requests in the portal. Local thermal-printer requirements depend on the validated machine interface and the customer’s operational process.

Plan the site design

Local retention, printer workflow, and outage behavior are defined during the compatibility and site review.
